Step 1
Mix the fish sauce, both soy sauces, oyster sauce, sugar, and water in a small bowl.

Heat the oil over medium-high heat. Cook the shallots and garlic for about 2 minutes, until fragrant.

Stir in the chopped chiles and cook for 1 minute.

Add the ground meat and break it into small pieces. Cook, stirring, until its liquid evaporates and the meat begins to brown, about 4 to 5 minutes.

For food safety, cook ground pork or beef to 71 C / 160 F, or ground chicken to 74 C / 165 F.

Pour in the prepared sauce and chicken broth. Stir-fry until the liquid reduces and coats the meat.

Fold in the basil and cook for 1 minute more.
