Step 1: Preheat the oven to 250°F. Set out two large rimmed roasting or baking pans with room to toss the snack mix.
Step 2: Use one whole box of the chosen Wheat Chex or Rice Chex (1 box), one box Corn Chex and one box Honeycomb cereal. If selected, add the one bag each of Fritos (1 bag), Bugles (1 bag) and pretzels (1 bag); their bag sizes are deliberately flexible in this recipe. Distribute every selected stock evenly between the two pans, keeping one complete snack batch.
Step 3: Make one butter-soy coating-syrup batch. Melt the 1 cup butter in a saucepan. Add the one ½-cup choice of Karo corn syrup or honey (½ cup), the ⅔ cup sugar, ⅔ cup vegetable oil and 2 tbsp soy sauce. Stir until evenly mixed.
Step 4: Divide the one prepared syrup batch into two equal halves, pouring one half over each pan of the evenly divided snack mix. Use two large spoons or spatulas to toss each pan until all pieces are coated. Both pans together use the one whole syrup batch.
Step 5: Sprinkle half of the one Nori Goma furikake bottle over each pan of coated snack mix, using the whole bottle across both pans. Toss each pan as you sprinkle so the seasoning spreads evenly without clumping.
Step 6: Bake the two pans of prepared mix at 250°F for 1 hour. Every 15 minutes during that hour, take the pans out briefly and toss the mix, then return them to the oven. Bake until the coating has dried and the pieces are crisp, without adding another full baking hour for the second pan.
Step 7: Remove the pans and let the baked mix cool completely. Divide the finished batch into airtight bags or containers to share with a dozen or more friends.
