Step 1: Arrange the cleaned, deveined head-and-shell-on shrimp (2 lb) in a bowl with the 1 cup lemon-lime soda. Marinate for about 10 minutes in the refrigerator. Lift the shrimp from the soda, let excess liquid drip off and discard the unused raw shrimp marinade.
Step 2: Melt the 1/4 cup butter in a pan over low heat.
Step 3: Add the crushed cloves from the 1 head garlic to the melted butter. Cook over low heat until the garlic is fragrant and just light brown, without burning.
Step 4: Add the drained marinated shrimp to the garlic butter and raise the heat to high. Stir-fry, turning the shrimp, until their shells turn orange and the flesh is pearly and opaque throughout.
Step 5: Season the cooked shrimp with salt and ground black pepper to taste and the 1 tsp lemon juice. Stir to distribute the seasoning.
Step 6: Stir in the 2 tbsp chopped parsley and cook over the same high heat for 30 seconds.
Step 7: Serve the hot garlic-butter shrimp among six people, with ready-cooked white rice if desired. Remove the heads and shells before eating the shrimp flesh.
