Method9 steps
Step 1: Start with ONE already baked Japanese sweet potato, about 300 g. If it was refrigerated, read the reheating tip in stage 8 before assembling. Slice the warm potato down the middle, lightly mash some flesh and gather it toward the center to make a flat filling surface. Alternatively halve it completely and leave the flesh unmashed, with both cut sides facing up. These steps do not bake a raw potato.
Step 2: Place all 1 tablespoon salted butter in the prepared potato. Season with black pepper to taste and one pinch of flaky salt; keep any extra pepper and salt for finishing.
Step 3: Choose ONE cheese option for this potato: A, about ¼–⅓ cup shredded cheese; B, about 2 oz fresh mozzarella PLUS ½ oz gorgonzola; OR C, about 2 oz brie OR camembert. Put only the selected cheese stock onto the buttered potato. Then choose ONE heating route in stages 4–7; do not run all four.
Step 4: AIR-FRYER ROUTE ONLY: heat the complete cheese-filled potato at 425°F (about 220°C) for 5–6 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly and lightly golden. Skip stages 5–8 and finish in stage 9.
Step 5: TOASTER-OVEN ROUTE ONLY: skip stage 4. Heat the complete cheese-filled potato at 450°F (about 230°C) for 6–8 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly and lightly golden. Skip stages 6–8 and finish in stage 9.
Step 6: OVEN ROUTE ONLY: skip stages 4–5. Heat the complete cheese-filled potato at 425°F (about 220°C) for 7–10 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly and lightly golden. Skip stages 7–8 and finish in stage 9.
Step 7: MICROWAVE ROUTE ONLY: skip stages 4–6. Heat the complete cheese-filled potato on medium for about 30–50 seconds, until the cheese melts. If desired, use a culinary torch briefly afterward for surface char. Skip stage 8, which is only a pre-assembly tip, and finish in stage 9.
Step 8: PRE-ASSEMBLY TIP ONLY: if the already baked potato was refrigerated, microwave it before stage 1 for about 45–60 seconds as an initial guide, then continue as needed until it reaches 74°C (165°F) through the center. Cover with a microwave-safe lid if it is dry. Then return to stage 1. This reheats the stored plain cooked potato before assembly; it is not another heating route for the finished stuffed potato.
Step 9: Finish the potato from ONLY the selected heating route in stage 4, 5, 6 or 7. Optionally drizzle it with 1–2 teaspoons honey, then add extra black pepper and flaky salt to taste and optional dried parsley. Serve as one stuffed-potato portion.
