Step 1: Heat the oven to325°F /160°C. In a large bowl, beat only the half cup softened cake-batter butter with only the cup white cake sugar (1 cup) until light. Keep the separate third cup sauce butter and brown sauce sugar untouched for the sauce.
Step 2: Beat both eggs (2) and the teaspoon vanilla (1 tsp) into the actual creamed cake-batter base until evenly mixed.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine all two cups flour with the teaspoon baking powder (1 tsp), ready to add to the batter.
Step 4: Alternately fold the actual flour mixture and all one and one-third cups milk (1⅓ cups) into the actual creamed egg mixture until a smooth cake batter forms. Do not add any sauce ingredients to this batter.
Step 5: Grease a13×9 inch baking dish with only the additional dish-greasing butter. Spread all the actual cake batter evenly in it and keep this actual filled dish ready for the maple sauce.
Step 6: For the maple sauce, put only the one and a half cups pure maple syrup, one and a half cups brown sugar, one and a half cups35% heavy cream and separate one-third cup sauce butter (⅓ cup) in a large saucepan with room for boiling.
Step 7: Heat the actual maple sauce pan, stirring constantly, until the butter melts and the sauce comes to a boil.
Step 8: Reduce the heat and gently simmer the actual sauce for two minutes, stirring, until it reduces a little.
Step 9: Gently pour all the actual hot maple-cream sauce over the actual raw cake batter in its greased baking dish. Keep the layers in place; do not mix them together.
Step 10: Bake the actual filled dish at325°F /160°C for about thirty-five minutes until the cake is light brown, set and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Continue if needed to reach that endpoint. Let the actual baked pudding stand briefly before spooning the cake and its sauce into twelve portions.
