Step 1: Put the 2 tbsp already cooked black sesame seeds in a dry non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally for about 5 to 8 minutes, until fragrant, watching carefully so they do not burn.
Step 2: Transfer the warmed sesame seeds to a mortar and crush them with a pestle into coarse flakes. Keep the flakes together so you can use half first and adjust with the remainder.
Step 3: Mix the 3 tbsp mayonnaise, 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp sugar and 1/4 tsp salt in a bowl. Stir in half of the prepared sesame flakes. Peel the large garlic clove (1 large), crush it into a paste and mix it in. Taste and add only as much of the remaining sesame flakes as you prefer; if the chosen mayonnaise makes the dressing too sour, add a little extra sugar to balance it.
Step 4: Let the mixed dressing stand for 10 minutes while you prepare the salad.
Step 5: While the dressing rests, wash and drain the 4 cups mixed salad vegetables. Cut them into comfortable bite-size pieces as needed, then arrange them in a serving bowl or divide between plates.
Step 6: After the dressing has stood for 10 minutes, drizzle as much as you prefer over the prepared green salad and serve immediately to 2 to 4 people.
