Step 1: Wash all ten small white potatoes well, leaving the skins on. Preheat an air fryer with a rotating basket to 400°F on its air-fry setting.
Step 2: Cut the washed potatoes into similar French-fry-shaped sticks with a fry cutter or sharp knife. Put all the cut fries in a large bowl.
Step 3: Drizzle all two tablespoons coating olive oil over the cut fries. Toss gently with a spoon or clean hands until the sticks have an even light coating.
Step 4: Sprinkle all two teaspoons paprika over the oiled fries, then add a sprinkle of salt and ground black pepper to taste. Toss until the seasonings are evenly distributed.
Step 5: Lightly coat the inside and outside of the rotating basket with the separate olive-oil spray, following the appliance instructions. The two measured tablespoons of oil are already on the potatoes.
Step 6: Load the seasoned fries into the lightly sprayed basket and fit it into the preheated fryer. Use only a quantity the basket can rotate freely; if your basket is smaller than the author’s, cook the fries in batches rather than packing it tightly.
Step 7: Start the basket rotating and air-fry at 400°F for about 25 minutes, until the fries are golden and the centres are tender. If you want them crisper, keep them rotating for the author’s optional additional 5 minutes, checking the colour and texture.
Step 8: Remove the cooked basket carefully and serve the golden fries hot. If seasoned fries remain, repeat the basket preparation, loading and cooking with the remaining stock. The author’s 25-minute cook and 35-minute total are estimates for one basket; additional batches or optional crisping take longer.
