Method6 steps · about 30 min

  1. Step 1: Dice the onion and chop the cabbage into ½-inch pieces.

Uses 1 yellow onion · 1/2 head green cabbage (about 5 cups chopped)

  2. Step 2: Add the onion and cooking oil (1 Tbsp) to a large skillet and sauté over medium heat until the onions are soft.

Uses diced onion · 1 Tbsp cooking oil

  3. Step 3: Add the ground beef (1/2 lb) and steak seasoning (1 Tbsp) to the skillet and continue to sauté until the beef is fully cooked. If using a higher fat content beef, drain the excess fat from the skillet.

Uses sautéed onion · 1/2 lb ground beef · 1 Tbsp steak seasoning

  4. Step 4: Add the chopped cabbage and water (1/4 cup) to the skillet. Continue to sauté until the cabbage has softened to your desired level of tenderness.

Uses cooked beef and onion · chopped cabbage · 1/4 cup water

  5. Step 5: Add the cooked rice (2 cups) and butter (2 Tbsp) to the skillet. Fold the rice and butter into the beef and cabbage until the butter has melted, everything is evenly combined, and the rice is heated through.

Uses beef and softened cabbage · 2 cups cooked rice · 2 Tbsp butter

  6. Step 6: Finally, season the skillet with soy sauce (1/2 Tbsp) to taste. Start with 1 tsp and add more to your liking (I added ½ Tbsp, or 1.5 tsp). Serve hot and enjoy!

Uses heated beef, cabbage and rice · 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce, or to taste
