Step 1: Soak the whole bread roll (1) in all120 millilitres milk until completely softened. Meanwhile, heat some of the100 millilitres vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry all the chopped onion (1) for about eight minutes until soft and golden. Keep the remaining oil for frying the patties.
Step 2: Put all500 grams raw beef mince in a bowl with the egg (1), prepared garlic and marjoram. Add all the actual fried onion. Squeeze the actual softened roll to remove excess soaking milk, then add the squeezed bread to the bowl; discard that excess milk.
Step 3: Season the actual patty mixture with the salt and black pepper and mix thoroughly until evenly combined. Keep the uncooked beef-and-egg mixture untasted.
Step 4: Divide all the actual seasoned mixture into eight patties. Put all75 grams dried breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl and coat the patties on all sides; discard any crumbs left after contact with the raw mixture.
Step 5: Heat enough of the remaining frying oil in a deep frying pan to pan-fry the patties, then cook the actual coated patties in batches for six to seven minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Check the centre of the thickest patties reaches71°C. Drain and serve the cooked patties; this batch makes eight patties.
