Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a large sheet pan or baking dish with parchment.
Step 2: Slice the rolls in half horizontally as one whole piece. Do not pull the rolls apart; keeping them attached makes layering and slicing much easier.
Step 3: Spread a thin layer of yellow mustard (3–4 teaspoons) and mayonnaise (3–4 tablespoons) (if using) on the cut side of the top half of the rolls.
Step 4: Layer the ham, slightly overlapping the slices to cover the surface—about 2 layers is ideal.
Step 5: Top with the roast pork (1 1/2–2 lb), distributing it evenly.
Step 6: Add the Swiss cheese (14 to 16 ounces), overlapping the slices to cover everything and go right up to the edges.
Step 7: Finish with a layer of thinly sliced pickles, arranged closely so each bite gets a pickle.
Step 8: Place the top half of the rolls over the fillings. If using, brush the tops with melted butter (2–3 tablespoons) for a glossy finish and extra flavor.
Step 9: Cover the assembled sliders loosely with foil, without wrapping. Bake at 350°F (177°C) for fifteen minutes.
Step 10: Uncover and bake another five to seven minutes, until the tops are golden and cheese melted. Let stand a few minutes, cut into twenty-four sliders and serve; secure with toothpicks if desired.
