Step 1: Preheat the oven to 220°C. Line the base of an 8–9-inch springform pan, about 20–23 cm across, with baking parchment, leaving an overhang to help contain the very liquid batter. Fasten the springform ring securely and set the lined pan on a baking tray to catch any drips.
Step 2: Take all the ready-to-eat pork ham (200 g) from its packaging. Slice it thinly if not already sliced, keeping all 200 g ready for the filling.
Step 3: Grate all 150 g cheddar cheese. Keep the grated cheese together with the prepared ham slices, ready for the filling layer.
Step 4: Crack all three eggs into a large bowl. Add all the measured 100 g vegetable oil and 240 g milk and whisk together to combine.
Step 5: Add all the all-purpose flour (120 g) and baking powder (2 tsp) to the prepared wet mixture, along with half to one teaspoon salt according to how salty the ham and cheese are, and dried oregano to taste. Mix for about one to two minutes until smooth. The complete batter will be very liquid.
Step 6: Pour half of the prepared liquid batter into the lined springform pan and spread it over the base.
Step 7: Arrange all the prepared ham and grated cheddar over the bottom batter layer. Pour the remaining half of the same batter over the filling to cover it.
Step 8: Bake the assembled torta in the preheated oven for about twenty to twenty-five minutes, continuing until the top is golden and the batter is fully set and cooked through, with no raw liquid batter in its centre.
Step 9: Let the baked torta stand for a few minutes before releasing the springform ring. Carefully remove the ring and baking parchment, cut the torta into portions as desired and serve warm with washed fresh herbs if wanted. For serving cold later, cool briefly and refrigerate within two hours, then keep chilled until serving.
