Step 1: Bring 2 cups of water to boil.
Step 2: Place the loose-leaf black tea (2 tbsp) in a teapot. Leave plain or add only ONE optional flavor: 2 broken cardamom pods, 4 saffron threads, 4 culinary dried rosebuds, or a 2-inch piece of cinnamon stick (2 inches).
Step 3: Pour hot water over the tea. Put the lid on.
Step 4: Let the tea brew in the teapot for about 5-10 minutes.
Step 5: Bring additional separate water to a boil for dilution; this is extra water, not the original 2 cups already brewing with the tea.
Step 6: Choose the strength before filling each glass: brewed concentrate to ⅓ of the glass for the usual strength, ½ for darker tea, or ¼ for lighter tea. These are proportions of each glass, not of the whole teapot.
Step 7: Pour the prepared concentrate into each glass to the chosen fill level, straining out tea leaves if needed. Slowly fill the remaining space with the separately boiled hot dilution water.
Step 8: Serve the brewed tea plain or with optional ready sugar cubes, raisins or dates on the side.
